  • Letters name the discipline: CSE, MATH, PHY, EEE, STAT, HUM, MIS, BUS.

M.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering

M.Sc. in CSE by Research

18 credits of theory courses plus an 18-credit thesis. At most four courses in a regular semester, and none in the thesis defence semester.

M.Sc. in CSE by Project

30 credits of theory courses plus a 6-credit project. At most five courses in a regular semester and two in the project defence semester.

The M.Sc. was restructured for Fall 2026 and every course was renumbered. Read your courses from the catalogue for the semester you were admitted in, not from the other one. Codes do not carry across: a course in the CSE 5xx list is not the same course as a similarly titled one in the CSE-50xx list.

    M.Sc. in CSE Rules, Guidelines, and Syllabus

    Students admitted from Fall 2026

    Rules and guidelines for the restructured M.Sc. in CSE, approved by the faculty committee on 25 January 2026 and the Academic Council on 29 January 2026, effective from the Fall 2026 semester. Defines the two pathways, M.Sc. by Research and M.Sc. by Project, both totalling 36 credits: 18 credits of theory plus an 18-credit thesis for Research, 30 credits of theory plus a 6-credit project for Project. Covers the three-semester calendar, admission and readmission limits, course enrollment caps, grading and CGPA rules, and thesis and project assessment. The catalogue runs CSE-5001 to CSE-5038, of which CSE-5037 Research Methodology and CSE-5038 Data-Driven Modelling are mandatory, alongside CSE-5040 Thesis and CSE-5041 Project. Course assessment is weighted 60% final, 25% midterm, 10% assignment or presentation, and 5% class participation.
